You are staying with
The house
Cosy gîte in a 16th-century house about 650 km from Amsterdam. Entirely renovated while retaining many authentic details. On the ground floor a spacious living room with sitting and dining area and a kitchen with all modern conveniences. Upstairs are two bedrooms with double bed (160 x 200 cm), a bathroom with shower, washbasin and washing machine, a toilet and on the landing a small library (mainly French, but increasingly Dutch books). The gîte is electrically heated with underfloor heating on the ground floor and radiators on the first floor. The fireplace in the lounge also has an electric stove with flames for ambiance and fan for instant heat. No wood fire is possible. In the hot summer, the gîte stays pleasantly cool thanks to its thick stone walls and excellent insulation. Next to the gîte is a fenced area of about 3000 m2 (an enterprising dog can escape though). The grounds are mostly a bit rough, but to the side of the house, near the gîte, is a maintained area with sun and shade, deck chairs, a table with chairs and a barbecue. A covered terrace and an area where you can safely store your bikes have also been built here this winter. The garden furniture can also be used on the plot in front of the gîte, closer to the door, on the very quiet street. You can park your car(s) along the road or on the property. There is hardly any traffic. You have the land largely to yourself only in August a second terrace located behind the house is occasionally used by the family. The cottage is located in a pretty French village, near the somewhat larger Bourbonne-les-Bains with its amenities, such as some shops, restaurants, a museum and a casino. The surrounding hilly landscape with an alternation of woods, fields, vineyards and meadows is ideal for lovers of peace, nature, walking and cycling. NB The gite does not have wifi, TV or a music system. For more entertainment, visit the fortified town of Langres, Chaumont, Dijon, Besançon or Nancy. Information regarding nearby attractions is available in the gite.

Coiffy-le-Bas is located in southern Haute-Marne, near the Vosges Mountains and Burgundy. It is about 650 km from Amsterdam and is easily reached via the famous route du Soleil (A31/E25). The hilly landscape with an alternation of deciduous forests, arable land, meadows, vineyards, streams and picturesque villages is ideal for lovers of nature, walks and cycle rides (although steep inclines), but trips to local attractions are also plentiful. It is an ideal setting to unwind. For lovers of water, the lakes around the fortified town of Langres are particularly interesting. For those who do not shy away from staying up late: the starry sky is phenomenal due to the lack of light pollution.

Reviews
W. Boerman from Zwolle,
Lilian Magnée from Terheijden,
Dick Opdam from Hoogerheide,
Mooie, comfortabele gite, geheel gerenoveerd. Grote tuin met heerlijke overkapping.
Heel stille omgeving.

Further remarks
Besides shops and restaurants, Bourbonne-les-Bains also possesses a small historical museum, thermal baths, a casino and a cinema. You can also rent a tennis court and play miniature golf. Just outside Bourbonne is the animal park La Bannie, where you can see local wildlife up close. Interesting sights in the vicinity include the Chezeaux swamp, the remains of Gallo-Roman villas in Andilly and Jonvelle, the historic villages of Chatillon-sur-Saône and Les Petits Thons, the remains of Morrimond Abbey and the wickerwork museum in Fayl-Billot. A little further away (45 min) you will find, among others, Chateau de Pailly, Chatteau de Champlitte and the fortified town of Langres with their sights. For a visit to Chaumont, Dijon and Nancy, you are just over an hour away. For enthusiasts, there are many smaller and larger vide-greniers (flea markets) in the surrounding villages from spring onwards.
