The house
About 650 kilometres from Utrecht, Beaucharmoy is a picturesque village situated in a green valley on the edge of the Langres plateau. In this land of springs many big rivers like the Meuse, the Marne and the Aube find their origin. A beautiful setting for a walking or cycling holiday or just to unwind.
Here stands Château Frison, a late medieval building inhabited by French nobility until the Revolution. Over the centuries - as with many old buildings - some things have changed. For instance, the 'wings' date from a later period than the main building. The building has been restored in style and modern conveniences go hand in hand with the authentic charm of the complex.
The gîte has all modern conveniences, including wireless internet. The large living area of about 90 m2 has comfortable sofas and the large antique dining table invites for cosy meals. The fully equipped kitchen has a nespresso machine, oven, washing machine, dishwasher, fridge, kitchen robot and microwave.
There are three double bedrooms with comfortable beds that have already been made. Bath towels are also already provided. Each bedroom has its own ensuite bathroom with shower, washbasin and toilet.

This beautiful green valley in a natura 2000 area, known for its wide variety of birds (red kite, black stork, blue harrier, etc,) is just a 15-minute drive from the route du soleil (A31) in the southernmost part of the Champagne-Ardennes region. As soon as you leave the boring motorway, you enter a beautiful unsuspected landscape that is well worth a holiday.
Lac Liez (20 minutes by car) features a beach with a restaurant and a floating "playground".

Restaurants, food & wine
In Bourbonne les Bains there are several restaurants, in Langres there are also many restaurants and also a Michelin-starred restaurant.
The nearby village of Coiffy-le-Haut produces fine wines. You can go there every day if you want to taste the wines; they are worthwhile.
Activities
The surrounding area is characterised by hills and forests. You can enjoy endless walks, cycling, swimming in natural waters, fishing, wildlife watching, etc. But if you like culture, eating out, browsing on one of the many flea markets, or if you want to be pampered in the thermal baths of Vittel or Bourbonne-les-Bains..., there are plenty of possibilities to enjoy your holiday to the full.
Bourbonne-les-Bains - the closest town with several supermarkets, post office, equestrian centre, mini-golf course, tennis court, swimming pool, etc. - is only a few kilometres away.
Those who enjoy visiting cities can go to Langres, a fortified town with centuries-old ramparts around the town which you can walk around in its entirety.
For those who want to drive a little further, both Nancy (bottom left) and Dijon (bottom right) are recommended. Vibrant cities with beautiful historical buildings, museums, cultural activities and, of course, pavement cafés.
