Activities
In the North of Alsace, at the feet of the Vosges mountains, between vineyards and forests, you can explore the beautiful authentic Alsatian town of Wissembourg and its exceptional heritage. All year round, the town hosts all kinds of festivities, such as the famous Whitsun Festival and the Christmas market with a parade of lights and fireworks.
The hilly surroundings are perfect for walks through forests, along streams and through valleys and to castles.
Cycling is also fantastic here. There are several ATB trails and cycling routes.
Other idyllic places a short distance away that are nice to visit include Seebach (village with picturesque white half-timbered houses in a setting of greenery and flowers) , Schweigen-Rechtenbach (wine village with wine tower and many wine bars and tasting rooms between the vineyards within walking distance of Wissembourg) and Dörrenbach (Belle au bois dormant). By train, you can be in the centre of Strasbourg within an hour.
Furthermore, Wissembourg has a beautiful outdoor swimming pool on the Lauter with a lovely sunbathing area open only in the summer months.
