The house
In the heart of the greatest châteaux of the Loire Valley (see map), in a green setting known as the Verger des Châteaux, nestle the Maison La Rose (2 adults) and its pavilion Les Nymphéas (2 adults), in a peaceful setting opposite the thousand-year-old Pontlevoy Abbey.
The walled orchard is home to numerous fruit trees (apple, plum, cherry, fig, olive, kiwi, etc.) and many other trees and plants, as well as a pond with water lilies and papyrus. It offers a wide choice of relaxation areas. There is also a heated saltwater swimming pool in a separate part of the garden, either in the sun or shaded by a plane tree.
Maison La Rose sleeps 2 adults and 1 child under 3.
It takes its name from the magnificent Pierre de Ronsard rose that blooms on its façade.
The 75 m2 ground floor comprises a vast kitchen/dining room, a comfortable lounge and an entrance hall. Upstairs is a large, bright bedroom, a large shower room and WC.
It can be rented in combination with its annex, located opposite in the courtyard. Pavillon les Nymphéas (33m2 on one level) sleeps 2 adults (plus baby) in a large bedroom, with its own shower room and a pleasant living area with kitchen and lounge. The whole opens onto its own garden area with table, armchairs, sun loungers and parasol, shaded by a majestic weeping willow.
So La Maison La Rose and its Pavillon les Nymphéas can accommodate 4 adults and 2 children (under 3) in different combinations: 2 couples of friends or 1 couple with their grown-up children, or 1 couple with relatives or friends... while preserving the independence of each person and allowing everyone to get together.

Surroundings
Le Verger des Châteaux is located in the charming village of Pontlevoy (population 1,600), with its thousand-year-old abbey and pretty white tufa houses, in the Loir et Cher department (41) in the Centre-Val de Loire region, between the Loire and Cher rivers, 26km south of Blois, 50km from Tours and 210km from PARIS.
Discover the village of Pontlevoy on a walk lasting around an hour and a half, exploring its natural and built heritage and the twenty-five panels of the "Museum in the Street", which show everyday life in Pontlevoy at the beginning of the 20th century, thanks to a selection from the Clergeau collection, a Pontilévian photographer who has taken more than 10,000 pictures.
Every summer for the past 34 years, Pontlevoy Abbey has hosted a renowned classical music festival.
Pontlevoy has the following essential shops:
- A bakery
- Carrefour Contact supermarket with petrol station
- A cheese and delicatessen shop
- Le domaine St Gilles: local vegetables, delicatessen
- A chemist

Montrichard (8km), the neighbouring market town, and Blois (26km), the larger town, will easily complete these shops.

Discover the Loire Valley by bike
If you'd like to take a slower, more sustainable, more environmentally-friendly approach to tourism, it's possible. Slow tourism is the praise of slowness applied to travel. It's a choice that makes sense in the Loire Valley, with its picture-postcard landscapes, architectural heritage, unspoilt nature and prestigious châteaux. Here, with family or friends, you can savour an art of living full of gentleness and generosity!
At Le Verger des Châteaux it's easy to travel by bike, with the option of having bikes delivered or bringing your own.
All that's left for you to do is explore the cycle paths of the Loire à Vélo. All the main tourist attractions are accessible in less than 2 hours by bike. I can provide you with a bike shed. All the essential shops are in the village of Pontlevoy.

Reviews
Jan Hoekman from Doorn,

Thank you Jan and Marjolein for your positive feedback.
During the 2 weeks you spent at "Le Verger des Châteaux", you were able to alternate visits to the great châteaux with relaxing in the peace and greenery of the garden with its swimming pool.
Looking forward to your next visit
Comment from Fabienne MESNIER
A big thank you Karin,Jeroen,Merel and Veerle for taking time to leave your review detailing the positive points of "Le Verger des Châteaux".
I was delighted to welcome you all 4 during these 2 weeks during which you enjoyed the houses with the garden , the swimmingpool and the sweet region of the Loire Valley.
Best regards
FabienneBerden Hilde - Bruninx Peter from Alken België,

Further remarks
The 4 x 8m pool is a saltwater pool heated to 25/28° by the sun or the heat pump when night-time temperatures are not too low. It is open from May to September, weather permitting from April to mid-October.
Using salt electrolysis, the water is crystal-clear and soft, with fewer chemicals.
The swimming pool and its terrace equipped with sun loungers, table and benches are located in a quiet area naturally shaded by the plane tree or in the sun, as you prefer.
It is in a closed area, but children are of course under the responsibility of adults.
To make the most of it, don't forget to bring your beach towels and flip-flops.
