The house

  • Quiet, rural area with some agricultural activity

At Les Petites Voisines on a mini farm, you have a nice atmospheric country-style gite in an old rectory dating back to about the 17th century; adapted and modernised while preserving authentic details, into a simple and pleasant house with a private garden. You have WIFI and a smart TV with Netflix and Youtube. The living room has a fine wood-burning stove (wood is included), there is air conditioning in three rooms and electric heating in the remaining rooms for cold days. The house is suitable for 8 people. You have French doors to the garden from the living room; in the garden there is a table and benches, as well as chairs. The house has a pleasant temperature, even when it is very hot it stays around 20 degrees. There are three bedrooms, a kitchen, and a spacious dining/living room, bathroom with shower and sink and a separate WC. The plumbing is downstairs. One bedroom is downstairs, the other two bedrooms are on the first floor. You have your own garden furniture and outside dining table and chairs. You can also use our adjoining grounds of about one hectare with small pool, trampoline, chairs and picnic table, which is shared with other guests. Not fancy or sleek (some details/finishing yet to be done) but rural cosy and pleasant. We hope to welcome you soon!

Farm campsite and chateau Les petites voisines is a family-run accommodation with rooms in our chateau de Saint Vitte, a gite and a mini campsite with small pool on our private land in the countryside. The whole place is in central France, in the Cher department on the border of Allier, Auvergne. It is rural and quiet. Our house is a 19th-century chateau (1880) in a small village in the countryside. The gite is located behind our house. The region is very beautiful, authentic and there is no mass tourism but plenty to do and see. If you want to experience real peace, unwind, let your children play safely, stay at a petting zoo or in our little castle, this is the place. We have lots of animals that can be petted, groomed and fed if you want. We have 1 milk goat, 3 dwarf goats, one dwarf pig, 3 chickens and a rooster, three cats and 1 dog. We rent out 2 rooms with shared kitchen in our house, an eight-person individual holiday home, and pitches for tent, caravan and camper on our private property. We are Dutch but we welcome all kinds of nationalities. Many French but also Belgians, Dutch, English, Spanish and more. We want to keep it that way because we really enjoy meeting people from all over the world. The whole thing is all simple, small-scale and family-oriented. An ideal place for those who love nature and tranquillity to come to their senses or enjoy sports. At Les Petites Voisines, everything is neither super sleek nor chic but authentic, cosy and family-like, small-scale and pleasant. We hope to welcome you soon.

Restaurants, food & wine

Not far from here are the wine farms in Saint Pourçain sur Sioule, among others. There are several wine tastings in the area.

Activities

There is plenty to see and do in this area, especially if you love nature and outdoor activities. But culture is not lacking either. In Vallon en Sully, just under ten minutes away, there is the supermarket, all kinds of shops, the bakery, a bar and nice restaurants; you can also rent electric bicycles and mountain bikes there. There is also an electric boat rental for a trip on the canal. There is a train station where the train goes to Bourges and to Montlucon and further Clermont Ferrand. Nearby is the foret de Tronçais, one of the oldest primeval forests in Europe, where you can hike endlessly, also very suitable for mountain biking. For cyclists, there are wonderful trips to be made, for example along the canal de Berry where there is a cycle path running from Montluçon, past Vallon and Sully all the way to Saint Amand Montrond and beyond. There are also many lovely little roads where cycling is excellent. At 3 km there are horses for hire or you can get riding lessons on site. There are beautiful swimming lakes nearby with various water sports activities. There are also numerous beautiful castles to visit. In summer, there are several festivals and very beautiful spectacles to see and, of course, brocantes to visit. At 15 minutes there is a climbing park Accrobranche with the longest cable car over water in Europe. In Nassigny at 15 km there is a beautiful golf course near a castle. A little further away is the amusement park and zoo le Pal. Cities in the area include Montlucon, Moulins and Vichy, Clermont Ferrand and Bourges, which is well worth a visit. Near Clermont Ferrand there are several amusement parks, not to mention the volcano Puy de Dome which is really an experience.

Further remarks

It is very important to read the ad carefully and look at the photos before booking; so you know what to expect and whether it is suitable for you. You can always contact us for more information.
A holiday home/gite from the 17th century, in the countryside, in the old presbytery behind the 'castle of Saint Vitte' and near the church . It has been simply refurbished while retaining authentic details (there are still some details to do). Pleasant house, rural rustic with partly electric radiators, a heat pump and a fine wood-burning stove for heating. It is an old and largely uninsulated house. But its thick walls keep it pleasantly cool in summer and make it heatable in winter, especially in the insulated living room. It might be cooler than you are used to, so a nice jumper will come in handy. It really is an old French house with all its charm, pleasantly rural and cosy. All the plumbing and other facilities are recent, though.

There is a bedroom for two downstairs and on the first floor are the other two bedrooms, each for three. There is a small kitchen downstairs separated from the living room. There are patio doors leading to a private garden with garden furniture where you can sit. Adjacent is the large grounds of about 5000 m2, shared with other guests (rooms and camping pitches), which you can also use; with a picnic table, chairs, the swimming pool and a trampoline. Next to our grounds is the community playground.

We have many animals that can be petted and fed (by arrangement). We want to work ecologically. Therefore, our swimming pool is filled with water from the well.
