The house
Les Rossignols is fully renovated with all modern comforts while still keeping traditional features of exposed beams and fireplace with log burner.The large private garden is fully fenced with an above ground pool [5.5m diameter]. There are sunbeds, deck chairs and bbq as well as a terrace for outdoor dining. The swing seat is ideal for relaxing in the peace and quiet.
The kitchen is modern and fully equipped. The open plan lounge has plenty of comfortable seating with satellite TV. 3 light and airy bedrooms, one with a king size bed and the other with singles. A travel cot, cot bed and high chair are available if required. The bathroom has a large pool bath and shower, plus there is an additional shower room down stairs.

Named after the Nightingales which sing throughout the Spring, Les Rossignols is located in a tranquil valley in a tiny hamlet of 4 houses. We are 3km from the small market town of Chateaumeillant in the heart of the historic Berry region of France, now part of the Centre Val de Loire region.
It is an area of lush rolling countryside, rich farmland, woods and vineyards with attractive villages and towns to discover.

This was our second visit to Les Rossignols as we loved it so much last time and we loved it just as much this time! The scenery, the peace and quiet, the wonderful dog walks. If you want to chill out and relax then this is the place for you. Sarah and Steve are the perfect hosts and have thought of absolutely everything and the Gite actually puts to shame some of the other Gites that we’ve stayed in. They really have thought of everything! We’ll come back again as soon as we can!

Stephen and Sarah are the most amazing hosts. Could not fault the cottage, everything you would ever need. Beautiful rural setting so peaceful and relaxing saw lots of wildlife. But within easy reach of town shops cafe and bars. Our 11 yr old said this has been her favourite holiday and ours booked again for next year already

Wij hebben een heerlijke vakantie gehad in dit huis. Na een warm welkom van Sarah en Steve kon onze vakantie beginnen. Het huis is heel rustig gelegen. Het enige wat je hoort zijn vogeltjes en heel soms de koeien die loeien. Het huis is zeer compleet en heel schoon. Overal is aan gedacht. Zelfs voor de hond stonden koekjes en poepzakjes klaar. De tuin is prachtig. Je kunt zien dat er veel liefde in is gestoken.
Vanuit de woning kun je prachtige wandelingen maken. Onderweg kom je roofvogels, herten en vossen tegen. In de omgeving genoeg kleine plaatsjes waar je heen kunt gaan. Meerdere supermarkten en bakkers aanwezig. Ook restaurants, maar omdat we een pup bij ons hadden die nog niet zo lang alleen kon zijn hebben wij veel in het huis gegeten. Bij aankomst kregen we aardappeltjes uit de tuin van Sarah en die waren heerlijk. Vanwege het weer hebben we niet kunnen zwemmen, maar het zwembad zag er mooi en schoon uit. Af en toe werd landden er wat zwaluws in om te drinken, dat blijft toch een mooi gezicht. Kortom: wij hebben een heerlijke week gehad en onthouden dit adres zeker voor de toekomst!

There are several restaurants and a bar in Chateameillant, 3km away. You can stock up on local produce at the regular market and try the local Chateaumeillant wine direct from the producers.
Activities
Situated on the Saint-Jacques de Compostelle long distance trail and with many way marked paths near by, the area round the gite is ideal for walking or cycling. For water sports a visit to the lake at Sidialles is a must. There are canoes and boats to hire, a sandy beach with safe swimming plus an enormous high ropes course with zip wires across the lake for the adventurous. There are also historic chateaux, medieval churches and beautiful gardens to visit. In the summer there are brocantes nearby every weekend as well as the local markets. Explore Chateaumeillant's vinyayds or go on an organised wine tasting day.
Horse riding, fishing and golf are also available near by.

Further remarks
The large fully fenced and enclosed private garden is ideal for both children and pets. The thick hedges are up to 2m high and reinforced with wire stock netting, the other solid fences are a minimum of 1.5m high, making it a safe place for your pets. The miles of off-road waymarked tracks are great for hiking or cycling- there is a folder of maps in the house.
