You are staying with
The house
A home full of warmth and nature.
Step into a place where simplicity and connection are at the centre.
Our central kitchen invites you in: watch, taste, help - or simply enjoy an aperitif while the dishes are being created.
You can see the mountains on both sides of our 'vista house', often with white snow-covered peaks until June. The sun shines nicely inside but, just like outside, there is always shade to be found too.
Thanks to the covered terraces, you can sit outside any season. Choose the north terrace in summer for cooling off, or enjoy the sun on the south terrace in winter, spring and autumn.
The house breathes natural materials - wood and loam - and feels like an extension of the nature around you.
There are 3 bedrooms and there is a relaxation room, semi-open, with 3 bunkbeds. Cots that we built ourselves and that you love to crawl into early.
By the loam stove, with the heated bench where conversations arise that stay with you.
Outside, adventure beckons: hammocks to retreat into silence, straight into the forest, climbing up the river, looking for the source...
A babbling river accompanies you, and if you set off early, the fox might even cross your path.

We have no direct neighbours; our house is the last house in the valley and the last house in the hamlet. The neighbours are jealous because in spring and autumn we have just that little bit more sunshine than they do. If you want to do some shopping, you'll find everything in Saint Jean de Maurienne. Other than that, this town is nothing special, we'd rather send you higher up for magical and authentic mountain villages.
Because we are centrally located, you can easily make trips from here, to the national park, to Turin or Italy, picturesque Maurienne villages like Bessans and Bonneval-sur Arc. The only thing you hear from us is the sound of the river and the occasional helicopter.
A small river runs through our grounds, allowing you a nice walk in good weather. You can find the most beautiful boulders there.
Children can have fun all day on the terrain, it is 11 HA large, it is wild and wooded, ideal for making a beautiful camp, and who knows, even spend the night in it.

Description and distance from ski station
Area: Les Sybelles
distance: 8 - 15 kms near skiing
We are between several ski resorts, at the end of the valley. There is Albiez Montrond, small, cosy, always in the sun, though a shorter season given the limited altitude. Ideal for teaching children to ski, and very cheap. There is Les Sybelles, also during holidays pleasant of crowds, old French charm. beautiful area and beautiful views. On the lifts alone you enjoy breathtaking views. There is Les Karellis, located more on the north side so also in the Easter holidays a fine condition of snow.
Restaurants, food & wine
Savoyard cuisine from the French Alps is robust and rich in cheese, potatoes and meat, ideal for cold winters. Well-known dishes include Tartiflette (potato dish with Reblochon), Raclette and Fondue Savoyarde. Local cheeses such as Beaufort, Tomme de Savoie and Abondance play a big part. Smoked meats, sausages, such as the local Diot, and hearty soups complement the menu, alongside desserts such as Gâteau de Savoie. Wines from Savoie such as apremont and the herbal liqueur Génépi complete the culinary experience.
If you go to the market, be sure to buy farmer Nicolas' goat cheese from Albiez Montrond, taste the slightly sweet bread with beaufort, overload yourself with fruit and fresh pasta from Italy, and go crazy with the Italian cheese from the brothers who sell the best Parmezano and Gorgonzola from Turin.
Fill your pic nic basket or backpack and trek into the mountains. The ultimate pleasure.
Activities
For sports, adventure and peace-seekers alike, this is an ideal base. We are located at the foot of many legendary cols. Col de la Madeleine, col croix de saint Fer, Le Galibier, le Mollard, ... but also for Gravel bikers, mountain biking there is a large and challenging range.
Prefer to walk? Then you can walk up from us to Albiez Le Jeune, an hour and a half uphill and you are in a completely different landscape. But also close to the National Park Le Vanoise. If you would like a guided hike, we would be happy to recommend a Dutch-speaking mountain guide.
Small children love a donkey ride and how about a horse ride yourself?
The house is also nice on rainy days, you always have the beautiful view outside and can just spend a whole day on the grounds... a wild terrain where there is always something to discover, where children can build camps, ...
There are nearby markets with local specialities, there is a herb farm, cheese making, ... rural and artisanal. And of course, the museum of Opinel.
We ourselves organise game-picking workshops, possibly combined with pizza baking. 'game picking & pizza'. We also have a 'nature journaling' workshop, where you learn to record the environment drawing and with watercolours. Slowing down and connecting.
