The house
Nestled in the mountains of the Haute Loire in the Auvergne, France, La Source offers comfortable accommodation for up to 5 guests, with one large bedroom (double bed and daybed) and a sofa bed in the living area.
Children and dogs welcome!
All bed linen, towels and cleaning are included in the nightly price. Travel cot and high chair available on request.
We’re open all year round and it’s possible to stay for a single night (except July and August – minimum 2 nights). We are perfectly positioned for a beautiful stop-over if you’re heading to the North or South of France, but if it’s tranquility and a simple rural break in the heart of the unspoilt Haute-Loire, La Source is the place for you!

In the middle of the magnificent and largely undiscovered Haute-Loire between Le Puy en Velay and St Etienne, discover the tranquility of life in the slow lane. About 4 kilometres from the nearest towns of Tence or Chambon-sur-Lignon, where you'll find local markets bursting with fresh products; vibrant in the summer, and peaceful all the rest of the year. Every season is felt here: springtime bursting with flowers; heavenly long, warm summer evenings; breathtaking autumn colours: and beautiful snowy winters...We're at an altitude of 1000m, so if fresh mountain air is what you're craving - this is your place.

Activities
There are many walks and hikes from your front door. Cross country skiing in the winter, 25 minutes away (20kms). We're on the River Lignon, and you can fish 5 minutes from the gite. Basic water sports at 2 nearby lakes.There are stables nearby, and climbing sites too.
I'm an experienced English teacher and run courses for adults and children. My husband Joe is a photographer and runs photography courses in the studio here and in the stunning surrounding countryside. Why not combine a course with your stay?

Further remarks
Whilst every direction offers beauty on foot, the nearest amenities are a short, easy 4.5km drive (or bike ride) to the charming small town of Tence with two supermarkets; a weekly street market; several great bars and restaurants, all reasonably priced. There's a cinema; health-food store; artisanal gift shops; public swimming pool; live music in the summer and a truly picturesque putting golf (with an amazing bar and restaurant, and regular concerts).
There are two beautiful lakes for swimming and summer water activities - Lavallette (11kms) and Lac de Devesset (20km).
