The house
The living room with fireplace is a good place to spend the evening with a nice glass of wine. The open kitchen is a nice place to sit together and prepare a nice meal. The gîte consists of three floors and has three bedrooms, a bathroom and a separate second toilet. You can enjoy the sun in the private backyard or in our large guest garden. The gite is the neighbouring house of our Chambres d'hôtes. And you can do your shopping in La Chaise Dieu (5km) or in Arlanc (10km).
From the gite a number of walks have been set out, varying from 30 minutes to 5 hours, which give a good impression of the unspoilt nature of the Livradois Forez.
There is a swimming pool in the guest garden, for the more energetic there is a swimming lake with pedal boats at 3km. You will also find a tennis court at 3 km, a riding school at 5km and less than an hour away you can go white water kayaking on the Allier.

Our gite and chambresd'hotes are situated in the middle of the Livradois Forez. This largest nature park of France (the size of North and South Holland together), is located in the Auvergne and is a protected nature reserve with many hiking trails, birds of prey, wild boar and deer. Orchids, wood anemones, mushrooms, blueberries and wild raspberries.
We are part of the hamlet of Folgoux, 4 km from La Chaise-Dieu, a medieval town with an impressive abbey church, where for decades an annual 10-day classical festival of international standing has been organised. Approximately 45 minutes away is the renowned Le Puy En Velay, one of the starting points of the pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostella. Many villages in this rural area are built around Romanesque churches, the houses mostly constructed of natural stone.

Prachtige locatie midden in de natuur, zeer rustig en toch goede uitvalsbasis voor zowel wandelingen als bezoeken aan historische plaatsen. Goede informatie en kaarten zijn ter plaatse beschikbaar. Gastvrije ontvangst! Af en toe mee gegeten met de gasten van de chambres d´hôtes, gezellig en lekker!

Heerlijk geslapen (wat een rust) en gegeten (wat een varieteit aan gerechten) in een prachtige omgeving (zowel la Fougeraie als alles daaromheen).
Ideale vakantiebestemming voor wandelaars maar zeker ook voor cultuurzoekers.

The Auvergne is known for its delicious cheeses, such as Cantal, Fourme d'Ambert, Salers, Bleu d'Auvergne and Saint Nectaire.
In our chambres d'hôtes we also offer table d'hôte. We offer a delicious French international menu at € 22,- per person. If there is room, you can also join us as a guest of the gite.
Activities
In the summer, "vide greniers" (outdoor flea markets), music festivals and small village festivals with regional products are organised in surrounding villages. From our site you can go hiking, ATB, cycling or motorcycling. Within walking distance is a lake with swimming, tennis and pedal boat facilities. A 10-minute drive away is a riding school where you can hire horses. Less than an hour's drive away, kayaking trips can be made on the river Allier. And at about 45 minutes distance lies the beautiful Le Puy en Velay, worth a visit!

Additional price info and offers
The price also includes the use of the washing machine located in the gite, the nice bathrobes hanging in the rooms and one basket of firewood. Gas, water and wifi are included, as is electricity on a fair-use basis. In case of excessive use of electricity (more than 30 kWh per day on average), €0.30 per kWh extra consumption will be charged. Extra firewood can be bought for €7.50 per basket.
