The poem is set in the heart of the village of Mirabel-aux-Baronnies, between Nyons and Vaison-la Romaine in the Baronnies region.
The Baronnies, in the south-west of the Drôme, is the land of aromatic plants. The landscapes are extremely varied, thanks to the sunny climate and good soil conditions. There are deep valleys, vast forests, lavender fields and an extremely rich flora. The region is geologically very interesting because of the confluence of the Pre-Alps, the Rhône Valley and the Mediterranean.

Information Mirabel-aux-Baronnies
Mirabel-aux-Baronnies has a population of 1,500 and is situated 10 km from Vaison-la-Romaine and 8 km from Nyons. There is a tennis court in the village and a swimming pool 1.5 km from the village, at Camping 'le Sagittaire'. There is also a large swimming pool in Nyons (with lawns and slides) and another in Vaison-la-Romaine. In St-Maurice (8 km) you can go horse-riding.
For trout fishing, you can go to Buis-les-Baronnies (25 km).
