Surroundings
The estate is within walking distance of the village (bakery and supermarket). It is the place of choice for people who love peace and quiet with beautiful fauna and flora.
The garden was recently laid out, is maintained weekly and offers numerous beautiful flowers and shrubs.
The region is also very well known for its castles and chateaux which are worth a visit! (Suze la Rousse, Grignan, Montelimar)
Nature lovers, hikers and cyclists are treated to beautiful landscapes and vistas with lavender, olive and vineyards, the "villages perchées" and the typical hills of the Barronies. The Camargue and the Calanques are also within driving distance, as are Pont-du-Gard and canoeing/kayaking down the Gardon and Ardeche rivers. Canyoning around Mont Ventoux, a high ropes course and a brisk walk in the "Dentelles de Montmirail" are there for those who like things just a little more adventurous.

Reviews
Martijn from Amsterdam,
Comment from Vanja Van Asch
Dank je wel Martijn en Swydie, heel fijn om lezen dat jullie zo genoten hebben en dat de vakantie helemaal 'af' was - hopelijk tot nog een keer!
Chris Burnie from Westerham,
We had a fantastic time at Les Jonchiers! Steven and Vanja were brilliant hosts - they were so helpful with recommendations before we arrived and went out of their way to ensure our stay was brilliant in every respect. We would love to return!
Comment from Vanja Van Asch
Hello Chris, thanks so much for this nice feedback, as well for the nice interactions we had with you and your family - we would love to see you and the children again, it was a pleasure to host you and your family! Kind regards, Steven and Vanja
Eva from Rijmenam,
Comment from Vanja Van Asch
Leuk dat jullie het zo naar jullie zin hadden Eva, we kijken uit naar jullie volgende bezoekje, ik ben nog steeds onder de indruk van jullie Mont Ventoux prestatie met de fiets!
Restaurants, food & wine
For lovers of French gastronomy, there are plenty of things to discover at local markets. Think Picodon goat's cheese, artichokes, a delicious home-made ratatouille, nougat from Montélimar and, apart from an abundance of fruit (apricots, cherries, strawberries, melons...), Nyons' olives. Of course, do not forget the black gold: the truffles of Tricastin with the largest truffle market in France in Richerenches - every Saturday morning in season (December to March).
Culturally, one can visit numerous castles, fortresses, museums and historical heritage both in the cities and smaller villages less than half an hour's drive from the estate (Nyons, Vaison-la-Romaine). Larger cities are also easily accessible - such as Avignon (45 minutes), Marseille and Nîmes (1 hour).
Last but not least, this region is undoubtedly a top spot for wine lovers: vineyards are ubiquitous in the region. The most well-known AOCs are the Côtes-du-Rhône, the Côtes du Ventoux and the AOC Grignan-lès-Adhemar. Around us alone, we have four Grands Crus from Haut Vaucluse - Gigondas, Vacqueyras, Cairanne and Rasteau - and one Grand Cru from the Drôme Provençale itself - Vinsobres.
Activities
The domain is half an hour's drive from several beautiful villages such as Nyons, Valaurie, Grignan, Vaison La Romaine, Orange or Avignon... Around around there are weekly atmospheric markets, a high ropes course, famous wine domains (Gigondas, Rasteau, Baume de Venise,...) the Gorges de Toulourenc (hiking in a river)
a 20-minute drive away there is a golf course in Clansayes and in Orange.
From the terrace one has a view of Mont Ventoux and les Dentelles de Montmirail. The green surroundings are ideal for beautiful walking or cycling routes (we already have many tips for you)
- Bicycle
- Near hiking trails
- Near ATB trails
Further remarks
The main house is mainly around and during holiday periods also occupied by us as owners, sometimes with our children. Periodically rooms are also rented there in B&B setting, On the grounds are also a gîte of 2 persons (Gite Monet) and a porter's house of 6 persons (Maison Matisse). For larger groups and if available, they can be combined. We remain vigilant that there is no nuisance by full occupancy to maintain the peace and quiet.
We ourselves have an Australian shepherd 'Thor' who stays with us - possibly there may be another dog on the property (porter's house with fence) but agreements apply there too.
Additional price info and offers
A washing machine is available provided it is shared with any guests in Gite Monet (2p) - laundry products should be provided by yourself.
When we are there ourselves, we are usually accompanied by our Australian shepherd Thor.
On the grounds of Les Jonchiers, cameras are hung with a specific purpose, namely to prevent, determine or detect crimes or nuisances. Only for these purposes can images be collected, processed or stored.
All properties are equipped with an alarm system and centrally controlled smoke detectors. During rental, the alarm of the rental property is inactivated for the period of the rental.
