The house
Welcome to our Gîte la Volane, an authentic, cosy French apartment with a small private terrace and a large communal south facing terrace, 25 metres wide. The apartment has a large living room and kitchen 32m2, two bedrooms of 13m2 and 11m2, both have double beds and a private bathroom.One bathroom has a bath, shower and WC, the other shower and separate WC The apartment is ideal for a couple or for two couples or a small group of friends. The gite has thick natural stone walls which ensure a pleasant climate inside even when it is hot!
From the large terrace you have a breathtaking view of the mountains and the valley, through which the rivers Ardèche, Volane and Fontolière run. A wonderfully tranquil spot to have your meals and to enjoy sunsets or starry skies later in the night. There is also a bistro located on the terrace (Cave) where you can have a drink or play games and listen to music. You even cook together here, upon request.
The gite is situated in a beautiful area with several walking paths , but it is not secluded. There are several lovely places along the river where you can swim. From our house it is a 10 minute drive to Vals-les-Bains where you find a butcher's, baker's, supermarket and terraces. So you don't have to drive in to town. Lively Vals has a picturesque centre with narrow streets and there is always plenty to do, especially in summer months (every Thursday and Sunday morning market, music, fireworks and much more). There is a fine swimming pool with natural water and a modern cinema. The range of cafes and restaurants (17) is large. Vals-les-Bains is known for its Spa and the healthy, pure spring water. In our gite you shower in mineral water!
Staying in this holiday home is enjoying a fantastic place with an unforgettable view! It is an ideal destination for guests who seek sun, peace and nature. No disturbing noises. The only thing you hear is the occasional sheep and lively hirondelles (swallows). With 300 sunny days per year and a Mediterranean climate, it is a lovely, welcoming holiday home from April to late October to enjoy in peace and quiet.

Gite la Volane is located in the southern Ardèche, a department in the south-east of France, in the town of Vals-les-Bains, quarter du Bruentet. From the terrace you can see Mont Ventoux in the distance which is 123 km away.
The southern Ardeche is one of the greenest and most rural parts of France. The landscape is very diverse; There are many chestnut and fruit orchards, vineyards, quiet rural roads, oak and pine forests and rivers. The area has many natural wonders to be admired; Ray-Pic waterfall, Mon Gerbier de Jonc, the Pont d'Arc, Chier the Borée, le Pont du Diable and the beautiful Gorges de l'Ardeche. Also worth seeing are the caves L'Aven d'Orgnac and Grotte de la Madeleine.

We zijn zeer hartelijk ontvangen door Anneke, zij legde van alles uit over de gite en de omgeving.
Het uitzicht vanaf het balkon is prachtig, nog mooier dan op de foto’s. Je ziet veel zwaluwen en koningspages vliegen. De krekels laten van zich horen; verder is het heel rustig, het ultieme vakantiegevoel!
De route naar boven vanuit Vals-les-Bains is prima te doen, veel bochtjes met steeds weer mooie uitzichten.
Anneke en Dominique hebben goede tips voor restaurants in de omgeving. Ze hebben meerdere malen voor ons gereserveerd, ze zijn heel behulpzaam.
In de gite is alles aanwezig wat je nodig hebt voor een aangenaam verblijf.
Je kunt ook gebruik maken van de wasmachine, handig als je wat langer op vakantie bent.

Geweldige plek en een hartelijk ontvangst van Anneke en Dominique. Mooie gite met alles erop en eraan en heerlijke bedden en wauw het Balkon daar zit je heerlijk en geniet je van het uitzicht en de krekels en de vele Zwaluwen! Genoeg te zien in de omgeving en de tip van het ijs nou die was echt heerlijk in Vals les Bains bij Beatrix !

We hebben genoten van 2 weken in jullie mooie en rustig gelegen appartement. Het uitzicht vanaf balkon en terras was prachtig. De locatie was voor ons een ideaal uitgangspunt voor wandelingen en uitstapjes.
Dominique en Anneke, julie waren zeer gastvrij en behulpzaam. Nogmaals dank voor alle tips die we van jullie kregen.
We komen zeker nog een keer terug!
Restaurants, food & wine
Vals-les-Bains has about 17 restaurants where you can lunch and dine both inside and outside. There are also many lively terraces.
In the last few years the Ardèche has positively developed itself as a wine region. On various vineyards and chateaux you can taste the local wines: Tavel, Gigondas, Vacqueyras, Châteauneuf du Pape, Côtes du Rhône, Viognier.
Activities
The area is very suitable for walking, swimming, fishing, mountain biking or cycling. There are also possibilities for more adventurous activities such as canoeing, climbing or canyoning.

Further remarks
The gite is located in our holiday home Les Veinards, which has two more holiday apartments: 'l Hirondelle' and Bruen, each suitable for two people. These gites have their own ad pages on this website. On the large southern facing terrace is a Bistro (Cave) where you can cook together - upon request- and where you can have a drink or play a game and listen to music. There is a washing machine and dryer which you can use.
* In low season it is also possible to rent the entire house and cook together in the bistro. There is a room for 9/12 people. You can also stay with us for a longer period, because we are open all year round.

Deposit: 100 euros to be paid on arrival
Bed-, bath- and kitchen linen ( mandatory) : 9,50 euros per person per week
Cleaning costs (mandatory): 50 euros
Wifi: 12 euros per week regardless number of guests.
Tourist tax: 1,10 euros per person, per day
