The house
Villa Oléandre is located against a hill, in a small residential area just outside the charming village of Chassiers, on the border of the Parc Naturel Régional des Monts d'Ardèche and the Mediterranean Ardèche, just outside the most crowded and touristy part of this region. There is a large garden of about 4500 m2 with an extra large swimming pool of 7x15 m, completely fenced with outdoor shower and pool house, a jeu de boules court, a volleyball/badminton court and several terraces where you can sit and enjoy the beautiful view.
Via the veranda, you enter the house in the spacious hall. To the left is the well-equipped kitchen with all modern appliances and a large dining table. On the other side, you can enter a second hallway through large French doors, leading to the bright living room with sitting area, TV, wood-burning stove and dining table. Both the living room and the kitchen have French doors to the veranda and the kitchen also has French doors directly to the garden. On this floor you will also find a long hallway with four spacious bedrooms. One of these bedrooms has an ensuite bathroom that you can also enter directly through the hallway and two of these rooms have built-in wardrobes and a fixed washbasin. Further down this hall is a separate toilet and a bathroom with spacious shower cabin, washbasin and toilet.
The central hall also contains the wide staircase leading to the first floor of the house. Here again a spacious hall and three large bedrooms, one of which is even 40m2, each with its own bathroom en suite with walk-in shower, washbasin and toilet. Outside the high season, these rooms are rented out as luxury chambre d'hôtes. All bedrooms have comfortable beds: 3 rooms have 2 beds of 0.90x2.00m that can be put together or separately, 3 rooms have a large double box spring bed. All windows in the house have shutters to keep the house cool in summer.
Finally, there is a basement with a washing machine and space to store bicycles and/or other things.

The villa is centrally located in a beautiful area just on the border of the Parc Naturel des Monts d'Ardèche and the Mediterranean Ardèche. From here, you can easily explore both areas, each with their own specific beauty. South orientated and placed against a hill, you have from the veranda and the terraces a beautiful view over the valley of les Landes with in the distance the hills/mountains around the river Ardèche and behind you the mountain area of the imposing Le Tanargue. Thirteen of the total twenty of the most characteristic villages of the Ardèche, the so-called villages de caractère, lie within a radius of only 30 km from the house. The lively market town of Largentière is at 3 km from the house and the somewhat larger lively town of Aubenas, with all its nice shops, is at only 15 km.

Wij waren met 8 fietsvrienden te gast in dit fantastische huis. Jaarlijks fietsen we een week in een uitdagende omgeving in Frankrijk. Dit jaar was dat deze streek in de Ardeche. We hadden een topweek. Mooie routes, prachtige omgeving en vooral een huis waaraan niets ontbrak. Het was een warme week, dus het zwembad was meer dan welkom. Elke dag ontbijten in de tuin. Zowel in als rond het huis veel ruimte. We fietsen al een jaar of twintig in Frankrijk en huren elk jaar een groot huis. Villa Oleandre staat bij ons in de top 3. De kans dat we nog een keer terugkeren is dan ook groot.

Wat hebben wij genoten van jullie vakantie woning!
Het ontvangst door jullie maakte alles veel persoonlijker en op onze vragen kwam snel een antwoord.
In het huis is alles aanwezig, en er is voldoende ruimte voor iedereen (wij waren met 2 gezinnen en hebben alle kamers benut).
De tuin heeft voldoende schaduwplekken om rustig te genieten, en de kinderen hebben veel tijd gespendeerd aan het prachtige zwembad.
De woning is ook goed gelegen om de Ardèche te verkennen.
Villa Oléandre is zeker een aanrader.

We verbleven er als familievakantie met kinderen en kleinkinderen. Het was helemaal wat we zochten: ruimte en tegelijk privacy. Het huis is goed gelegen om de Ardèche streek te ontdekken. We deden de boodschappen met de auto in supermarkten en winkels op ongeveer 5 km. We werden hartelijk onthaald door de eigenaars en kregen uitleg over het huis en de tuin. Het huis heeft grote kamers, grote leefruimte, overdekt en open terrassen. Het is zeer gerieflijk en netjes. Er is zelfs wat speelgoed en spelletjes. De bedden zijn breed en aangenaam. Je kan met de luiken de grootste warmte in de leefruimtes en kamers op de gelijkvloers buiten houden. De 3 kamers op de bovenverdieping waren ondanks luiken en ventilator niet echt fris te houden. Het waren dan ook extreme zomertemperaturen. Het domein is rustig gelegen in het groen. De tuin is schaduwrijk, vol bloeiende struiken en heeft verschillende hoeken om te relaxen of actief te zijn. De kinderen vonden het speelhuisje fantastisch. De grootste troef in deze snikhete zomer is het aangename grote zwembad met poolbar. Iedereen kon er tegelijk in zonder dat het te druk aanvoelde. We zouden er zeker terug op vakantie willen!
Restaurants, food & wine
In the direct surroundings, there are many vineyards and authentic restaurants and 'auberges' where you can have a delicious lunch or dinner on the terrace, often on a charming little square or with a beautiful view of the surroundings, often in the shade of the plane trees. Chestnut products are a speciality of the area, as well as delicious sausages, goat's cheese and other cheeses, honey, wines and nougat from Montélimar. These products are fresh and widely available at the local markets and speciality shops.
Activities
Because the villa is located very centrally, on the border of the Parc Naturel Régional des Monts d'Ardèche and the Mediterranean Ardèche, you can make very diverse cycling and/or walking trips from the house, both between the vineyards and olive groves as well as in the mountains. Around every corner there is a lot to discover and admire: characteristic villages, rivers that make their way through gorges, beautiful nature and wonderful views everywhere. A little higher into the mountains, you can see the Mont Ventoux and the Alps in many places on a clear day. For the cyclist looking for a challenge, there are several cols to climb. Bicycle and walking maps are available in the house.
The river Ardèche is very suitable for canoeing. Near Balazuc it is a bit quieter and near the Gorges de L'Ardèche often a bit busier but very impressive with the possibility to canoe under the famous Pont d'Arc. It is possible to rent a canoe in Largentière (3 km from our house). You can also rent an e-bike here.
There are many places in the Ardèche where you can have a lovely swim, such as Balazuc, Ruoms and Vallon Pont d'Arc, but especially in the Beaume near Labeaume with the rocks as a natural springboard and several beautiful beaches.
Thirteen of the twenty 'villages de caractère' in the Ardèche are within a radius of 30 km from the house. Largentière, Ruoms, Les Vans and Aubenas have very nice markets with a lot of local products and are worth a visit.
In both the castle of Largentière and the castle of Montréal ( 7 km ) medieval entertainment is held during the summer holidays. Really nice, especially for children, to go to.
