The house
Gite Elin is a 4 to 6 person Gite. Our Gite is attractively furnished and located on our farm with an adjacent woodland plot.
You enter in the cosy sitting area, from where you can go to the kitchen.
On the ground floor is a bathroom with shower, washbasin and toilet.
A wide staircase leads to the landing where you will find two bedrooms.
The Gite has heating (electric)
The kitchen is equipped with gas cooker + oven, fridge, kettle, coffee machine, pots and pans, crockery and cutlery.
The beds are made on arrival, kitchen linen is provided, bath linen can be rented.

Auvergne is known for its 5 "aoc" cheeses: Foume d'ambert, Auvergne blue, Cantal, Salers and St Nectaire. These cheeses can be found on every weekly market and are definitely worth trying.
Saint-Pourcain and its surroundings is one of the oldest wine regions in France Here, red and rosé wines are produced (3/4 of production) as well as white wines, the latter enjoying an "AOC" qualification. In Saint-Pourcain, you can visit the Wine and Terroir Museum, housed in the house of the sheriff.
Two major (annual) events, pay tribute to the wines of Saint-PourcThe Auvergne is a green region with vast meadows, where animals still have lovely space to graze. Mass tourism is certainly not yet an issue and nature can still take its course undisturbed. This contributes to a large assortment of bird species, so bird watchers are sure to get their money's worth here. Rest and activity go hand in hand in Auvergne; cycling, hiking, horse riding, survival, everything is still possible here in unspoilt nature. There are also two golf courses nearby, one of which is about 20 km away in Neris-les-Bains. If you want to cool down, you can visit the swimming lake in Lapeyrouse, which has a playground and a small eating and drinking establishment.
Neris-les-Bains (approx. 15 km) is one of the spa resorts in our area. Here one can enjoy thermal baths and
massages and there are good restaurants as well as a casino.
The nearest larger city is Montlucon (20 km) and somewhat further away (within an hour) are 3 major cities:
Clermont-Ferrand, Moulins and Vichy.ain: the wine fair in the last weekend of February and the wine and food festival in the 2nd half of August.
In our area, hot meals are mainly eaten at lunchtime. Many restaurants cater for this and therefore offer an extensive 3- or 4-course dinner between 12.00 and 14.00 for very reasonable prices (often between 13 and 17 euros).

What does the Auvergne offer?
- Hiking and mountain bike trails (VTT)
- 2 golf courses in the vicinity (eg Neris-les-Bains)
-A small waterfall (cascade) in St. Priest des Champs, (half hour drive) nice walk possibly with the dog (approx. 1 to 2 hours there and back)
-A swimming lake in Lapeyrousse or St. Eloy les Mines (20 minutes drive) where the dog is allowed to enter the water on certain stretches.
-A visit to Puy de Dome (mountain) or environment, there are several hiking trails around the crater lakes (eg lac d'aydat) (approx. 1 hour drive)
- Vulcania" an educational park which tells about the origin of the volcanoes around Clermont-Ferrand.
-A tour around the river "Sioulle", visit "plage de la chazotte" direction Miremont (mouth of the Sioulle), canoe on the river la sioulle
-For the children, there is the park "le Pal", a large amusement park with a zoo
- Charroux", one of the most beautiful medieval villages with several small shops where craft products are still made.
-An hour's drive away you will find the 3rd ski resort of France, consisting of Mont D'or, La Bourboule and Super-Besse. Both in summer and in winter it is a good place to be.
-And of course there is a flea market every week on Sundays and holidays from spring onwards.
