The house
"Gîte du peintre" was an old stable and has recently been thoroughly renovated and extended into a cosy holiday home and is equipped with all modern conveniences. The kitchen has an induction hob, an oven, a large fridge and a washing machine and is equipped with everything you need to cook well. The house is well insulated, cool in summer and warm in winter, has central heating and a wood-burning stove. On the first floor there is a bathroom with shower and a cosy bedroom.

Coutansouze is located in the Allier département in the Auvergne region at an altitude of about 600 metres. The village has 120 inhabitants and is situated in the middle of nature. Farms with sloping meadows and fields alternate with extensive forests. Beautiful views and tranquillity characterise this region. The many castles and medieval, Romanesque churches are jewels in this beautiful region. The complex is situated on 7000 m2 of land with lots of privacy and ample parking space.

Mooie gite. Hartelijke gastvrouw/-heer. Wel wat donker in huis. Hele mooie tuin. Bosrijke omgeving. Fijne plek voor rustzoekers.

Leuk huis in een zeer rustig dorp. Goed ingericht, fijne bedden. Gastheer en -vrouw zijn zeer gastvrije en heel
informatief. Veel ruimte op het terrein met leuke zitjes en schaduwplekken. Wandelen kan vanaf de gite, maar een wandelkaart van de omgeving is dan wel heel nuttig (niet in de gite aanwezig). Klein en heel goed restaurant in het dorp (Au Comptoir des Colettes).
Enige minpunt was, dat ik 10 euro moest betalen voor één gebroken wijnglas, omdat er dan gelijk een nieuwe set moest worden aangeschaft. Jammer en buitenproportioneel.Norbert Kusters from Benneveld,
Wij hebben een heel fijn verblijf gehad in de gite van Manfred en Erica. Een uitstekende keuze om kennis te maken met "la France profonde". Er is veel te zien in de omgeving en natuur- en wandelliefhebbers zitten hier goed. Manfred en Erica zijn prettige verhuurders. De gite zelf is compleet. Alles wat je nodig hebt voor een aangenaam verblijf is aanwezig. Wij kunnen deze gite daarom aan iedere volgende huurder aanbevelen.
Restaurants, food & wine
There are a few nice little restaurants in the neighbourhood. On the markets, for example in Bellenaves, you can find all fresh, local products; at the bakery and a small supermarket in Louroux de Bouble you can buy everything for a nice French breakfast.
Activities
The detached building is part of the complex "Artcoutansouze" where painting courses and lessons are given. All paintings in the cottage are for sale and the tenant receives a 10% discount on all the work of Erica Nussbaum Kewerkopf and on the course programme. There is a large, quiet garden with a beautiful pond. The location is a paradise for nature lovers and those seeking tranquillity, because 5 minutes on foot starts "Forêt des Colettes", the largest coherent beech forest in Europe. You can enjoy a quiet environment, an impressive starry sky and the clean air. In the surroundings you can go for lovely walks. There are several beautiful walking routes and also the sporty cyclist will find something to his liking. If this is still too much of a challenge in these hilly surroundings, you can also rent electric bicycles in the neighbouring village.
The climbing park "Natura "Bosse" and canoeing on the Sioule with its impressive rock faces, swimming in Lapeyrouse, horseback riding, fishing, paragliding are only a few of the possibilities of the enormous range of leisure activities.
The picturesque villages with their often medieval churches offer the painter motives and also the diverse landscapes offer ample opportunities for a beautiful drawing or painting. Coutansouze and the neighbouring Louroux-de-Bouble are also known for three railway viaducts bearing the handwriting of the young Gustave Eiffel, who designed them in the 19th century.
Furthermore, there are many flea markets, antique shops and museums. Vichy with its thermal baths and beautiful city park and its special architecture is definitely a must or the student city Clermont-Ferrand with its beautiful cathedral and the volcano area in the mountains next to the city.
