Walking in Hautes-Alpes
Good starting points for walks from your holiday home in Haute-Alpes are Poligny, La Rochelle and Nacelle. Visit the Sunday morning market for local products such as Bleu du Queyras, olive oil and beer. In regional nature park Queyras, on the border of Italy, with pretty villages such as Molines-en-Queyras en Saint-Véran you can discover the royal eagle and ibex. Access to park is in the fortified town of Guillestre, which has a lively market on Monday mornings. Climbing is also possible during your holiday. Good places to climb are for example Saint-Firmin, Claret, Vallouise, Pelvoux, Glacier Blanc, Orpierre and Mont-Dauphin, which was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, as part of the “Fortifications of Vauban” group. Nearby is the town of Eygliers and at Réotier a petrified fountain, certainly worth a visit.
