The house
Happy Holidays Happen Here in our spacious barn conversion. It has a large living area, a kitchen equipped with everything you would need for a holiday home from home, two bedrooms (1 King size bed 200cm by 150cm, 2 single beds 190cm by 90cm) and a shower-room with toilet and basin. The high vaulted ceiling in the main living area ensures that the Gite is cool and comfortable even in the height of summer. Outside there is an elevated deck with space for al fresco dining and a seating area as well. There is also a secure gangway leading to the above ground pool. The deck and pool enjoy fantastic views towards the south-west overlooking the tranquil countryside of the Vendee. Our guests are always amazed at the quality and spaciousness of our Gite and the views across the surrounding countryside which no photo can truly capture. A common observation from our very satisfied guests is that the photo's of the Gite do not do it justice. Why not find out for yourself?

La Menantelierre is a small hamlet consisting of 5 residences on west facing hillside close to the border of the Deux Sevres and Vendee departments. The views from our property are spectacular. We are close to several trails and pathways that allow you to explore the local area in peace and safety.

Prachtige ligging ! Met honderden mooie vlinders 🦋🦋🦋
Josie is de perfecte host, ze komt eventjes kijken of alles in orde is, en dan is ze terug weg.
Huisje bevat alle accommodaties die je nodig hebt, na een week komen ze het voor jouw opfrissen.
Terras, zwembad, yogales, Josie haar glimlach, alles krijgt voor mij een 10/10
Wanneer je echt aan rust toe bent dan is dit het ideale adresje !

We hebben hier echt een heel fijne week gehad! Vanuit het kleine gehuchtje ben je binnen een uur in La Rochelle, Niort of Poitiers. Het huis zelf heeft veel ruimte en is lekker koel en schoon. Vooral het terras was een fijne plek, waar we een groot deel van de dag lekker in de zon zaten en natuurlijk eindeloos in het zwembad plonsten. De kinderen (6 en 9) waren er niet uit te slaan! :)
Josie en Dom waren altijd beschikbaar voor vragen, maar lieten ons vooral met rust.
We waren graag een weekje langer gebleven, maar helaas was Mon Petit Coeur al volgeboekt. Maar voor een volgende vakantie zéker een plek om naar terug te gaan!

Een weldadige plek en een fantastische gastvrouw: Josie. Vanuit “Mon Petit Coeur” hebben we La Rochelle, Niort, Portenay en Poitiers bezocht: allemaal prachtige steden die vanuit de Gite te bereizen zijn. En telkens kom je terug in de weldadige rust en heerlijke tuin van dit prachtige huis. Een echte aanrader voor mensen die de Vendee willen verkennen en ook tot rust willen komen in een landelijke omgeving.

We can suggest a variety of local restaurants within a 10 minute drive of our property, from basic up to Gourmet quality.
Activities
There are a variety of tracks and bridleways in the area that can be explored in safety, either on foot or by Bicycle if you bring one with you. We are within 90 mimutes drive of Puy du Fou, Europes premier theme park. Futuroscope at Poitiers is just over an hours drive away. Closer to home the delightful Parc de Pierre Brune is a small family theme park that is perfect for a day out with children and less than 25 minutes drive from our Gite. There are also numerous other attractions and activities within easy reach of our Gite, it really does make the perfect base for exploring the region.
Josie is a qualified Yoga instructor and has run yoga retreats at la Menantelierre and in Goa, India. Josie also has a masters degree in fine art and has lectured in fine art at establishments in the United Kingdom. The art studio provides space and facilities for those wishing to extend their practise in art.

Further remarks
We have been operating our Gite for more than 10 years and in that time have had numerous happy visitors, some of whom have returned more than once. Our feedback has always been very positive and we aim to provide you with the perfect base for a relaxing and enjoyable family holiday in France.

Additional price info and offers
We provide a welcome basket for you on arrival - full details are on our website. We provide laundry powder/tablets/liquid and dishwasher tablets. All you need to bring with you are your personal toiletries. Toilet rolls are provided in the gite. If you are staying for 2 weeks we can provide for cleaning and fresh bed-linen and towels on the normal changeover day (Saturday) at a price of €50.00, the Gite will need to be vacated whilst the cleaning is carried out.
