The house
Our guest house is an outbuilding in its own right, just opposite the house we live in. It comprises a ground floor with a living room and fitted kitchen, and a first floor with a large bedroom and adjoining shower room. There is also a private terrace overlooking the garden, and your parking space is right next to the entrance to the house. The building has been renovated while retaining its character, and the result is a cosy, welcoming atmosphere that will make you feel immediately at home.
The living room (6 x 6 m) has a fireplace, which adds a warm flame to the stove that serves as central heating for the whole house. A two-seater sofa and armchair sit opposite the fire, and next to the TV with DVD, while the dining table is located just in front of the French window that opens onto the terrace. A small study area completes this part of the living room.
The kitchen, which opens onto the living room, has an oak cooking island with a small fridge, a gas cooker, a small electric oven, a microwave, a kettle, a Nespresso machine (and a traditional coffee maker), a toaster and, of course, all kinds of kitchen utensils.
The large bedroom upstairs (5 x 6 m) has a 180 x 200 double bed (which can also be split into two single beds), a large old wardrobe and a sofa. And if you're accompanied by children, there's an armchair bed, a cot, a high chair and a basin.
Next to the bedroom, still on the 1st floor, is the bathroom (2 x 2m), with WC (sanibroyeur), shower and washbasin. Towels and bed linen are provided.
In fine weather, you can choose to have your meals on the terrace, which is equipped with a small table and chairs, or in the garden, around the large wooden table. A small barbecue and sun loungers will add to the comfort of your stay.
And for the colder months, the sauna in the garden will take over, so don't hesitate to ask us.

The house is located in the Perche, a protected nature park in the southern part of Normandy. This is a sparsely populated region, untouched by mass tourism. The landscape is characterised by hills, valleys, forests, meadows and fields. The guest house is part of our property, La Sauvagère, which consists of a 3800 m2 fenced garden, a longère (typical Norman house) where we live, a barn, and the guest house itself, which once housed the old stables. The whole complex was built between 1600 and 1800 in the typical style of the region, using local limestone. The guest house is just opposite the main house and its terrace overlooks part of the garden (30x30 m), which you can enjoy exclusively during your stay. You can also stroll around the rest of the garden, while respecting our vegetable garden, fruit trees and, above all, beekeeping. We depend on the small village of Bellavilliers (144 inhabitants), which is 3.5 km away; small local shops (baker, café, general store) can be found in the very pretty village of La Perrière, 5 km away; for other shops, boutiques and supermarkets, you will have to travel to Bellême (10 km) or Mamers (11 km).

Restaurants, food & wine
The flagship products of Normandy cuisine are apples, cheese and meat. Apples are an excellent ingredient in cooking (Normandy tart, tarte Tatin...) and they are also the main resource for the production of cider and Calvados, which now have PDO status. You can book visits and tastings with local cider makers if you wish. Cider goes well with the typical cheeses of Normandy: Camembert, Pont L'Evêque and Livarot (in the town of Livarot, incidentally, there's an interesting cheese museum to visit). And in the Perche region, fresh goat's milk cheeses (Trèfle first and foremost) can be found at every market, in Mortagne on Saturdays and in Bellême on Thursdays.
The market in Mortagne au Perche is renowned for the presence of many local producers, and is very popular!
In Mortagne, Bellême and nearby La Perrière, you can buy fresh bread and pastries from a super organic baker who only uses local flours!
Mortagne au Perche (16 km) is famous for its traditional black pudding, the black and white pudding. There are several butchers in the village who sell this speciality.
In our region, there are also many restaurants and brasseries in all price ranges and to suit all tastes.
For example, in La Perrière, 5 km from the house, there is a small gourmet restaurant. Also 5 km away, in Pervenchères, there's a small working-class restaurant with a set menu but absolutely affordable prices. 7 km away, in Le Pin la Garenne, you'll find one of the best traditional restaurants in the region. Also 7 km away, in Saint Jouin de Blavou, a new restaurant that also offers brunches on Sundays, and always has a vegetarian menu too. And the list goes on ;-) We'll be able to tell you more when you get there!
Activities
The house is set in the middle of meadows, in the heart of the Parc Naturel Régional du Perche. This landscape alternates copses, forests, meadows and rolling hills with old country houses in the middle of typical villages. It's an ideal destination for nature lovers, hikers and lovers of old stone. It's also ideal for horse-riding enthusiasts, thanks to the many riding schools and bridle paths that criss-cross the region, whose symbol is the horse.
At home, you can ask us to introduce you to the incredible world of bees.
Afterwards, you can set off from the house on foot or by bike: our neighbours offer a full range of electric bikes and accessories for hire! And the Bellême forest, a UNESCO World Heritage Site with its majestic oak and beech forests, is just 6 km away.
In the picturesque village of Bellême - with its shops and craft shops - there is an 18-hole golf course (12 km). Even closer, the artists' village of La Perrière is the ideal destination for a walk from the house (6 km), a coffee break at the Salon du Thé, a visit to the Musée du Filet, or to buy bread.
Alençon, the lace-making town with its museum, is 30 km away, Chartres with its cathedral is 80 km away and Le Mans, with its Merovingian town and 24-hour museum, is 60 km away. You can also visit gardens, notably in the charming village of Saint-Céneri-le-Gérei, with its church remarkable for its beautiful frescoes and bell tower. Mortagne au Perche (16 km) is a town with a rich architectural heritage, with many houses dating from the 16th and 18th centuries.
There are daily markets in the region, including the largest farmers' market in France at L'Aigle (25 km) on Tuesdays.
At Le Mêle (18 km), you can swim, sunbathe, pedal-boat, play miniature golf, surf, canoe and fish around the lake. There are heated swimming pools in Bêlleme and Mortagne au Perche.
Also worth a visit is the Rocher d'Oëtre, part of the Suisse Normande hiking area with the Gorges de la Rouvre. Several hiking trails start from here.
In the surrounding villages and towns, there are restaurants and brasseries to suit all palates and budgets.
And we're always ready to give you advice or guidance if what you're looking for isn't on this list :-)
