The house
Welcome to La Jolière, our 'home away from home'. A beautiful holiday home with swimming pool, located in beautiful hilly Normandy (on the Manche / Calvados border) near the (invasion) beaches in France. A special place that we love to share with you!
La Jolière is a 200-year-old stone farmhouse. With almost 8 hectares of land all around and beautiful wide views on all sides (nearest neighbours half a kilometre away), you imagine yourself in your own holiday paradise for a while. La Jolière offers peace and quiet with all necessary amenities within easy reach. The extensive (wooded) walking areas, cycling and mountain biking routes, waterfalls, fishing opportunities, a large lake - where you can hike, canoe or rent a boat - and a golf course in the vicinity, complete the ideal holiday picture.
La Jolière is spacious (180 m2), bright and has been restored and renovated with an eye on comfort and preservation of historical features. With four bedrooms and three bathrooms, the smoke- and pet-free holiday home is suitable for (small and large) families and families (max 9 adults/children plus a baby). In summer, you can swim in your own private heated pool (open from 1 June to 28 September), play a game of bocce or badminton in the garden. For rainy days, there are videos, books and games available. Our indoor games room with pool table, table tennis, table football, shuffleboard, chess and darts offers fun for young and old.
*Description interior*
You enter the house through a hallway with cloakroom, toilet and dryer. To the left of the hallway is the (with a door lockable) huge farmhouse kitchen with tiled floor and impressive granite fireplace. In the fireplace is an enamelled wood stove that you are free to use. The house also has electric heating.
In the kitchen you will find, among other things, a microwave, kettle, coffee maker, toaster, fridge with freezer, washing machine, dishwasher and separate spacious pantry. High chair (baby chair and Stokke Tripp Trapp), crockery, pots and pans, cutlery and glassware etc. are provided. To the right of the hallway is the large living room (lockable with a door) comfortably furnished with a corner sofa, chairs, tables and French doors to the terrace and garden. The living room has a television and DVD player.
From the living room, stairs lead to the large games room with pool table, table tennis, table football, darts, chess and shuffleboard. The two bedrooms on the 1st floor (bedroom 1: 1x double bed 160x200cm; bedroom 2: 2x single bed 90x190cm - both bedrooms with en-suite bathroom) are separated by a door from the two bedrooms on the 2nd floor (bedroom 3: 1x double bed 140x190cm; bedroom 4: 1x double bed 160x200cm + 1x single bed 90x190cm - both bedrooms share a bathroom) - giving everyone privacy.
Thanks to the house's thick stone walls, it stays pleasantly cool in the house in summer. Therefore, there is no air conditioning.

La Jolière is centrally located and therefore numerous interesting destinations are easily accessible by car: Le Mont St Michel is a 50-minute drive away, the west coast with beautiful beaches a 40-minute drive away and Bayeux and the Normandy invasion beaches a 1½-hour drive away. Or much closer to home: the beautiful forest 'Forêt Domaniale de Saint-Sever' with a large lake and kilometres of well-marked hiking trails, Cascade de Mortain with one of the few waterfalls in Normandy and, of course, the many open-air French markets.

Prachtig en ruim huis met alles erop en eraan, middenin de natuur, zonder lawaai en op 5min. rijden van het dichts bijzijnde dorp.
Opgemaakte bedden bij aankomst, handdoeken pakket per persoon, een welkomstpakket en voldoende voorraad ter plekke (kruiden, wc-papier, koffiefilters...). Alsook een wasmachine en droogkast, heel handig!
Een heel grote zolder met pool, pingpong tafel, darts, sjoelbak... een speelparadijs voor de kinderen die er heel vaak speelden.
Een mooie en verzorgde tuin en bij zonnige dagen is een plons in het zwembad onmisbaar.
Uitbaatster informeert op voorhand heel uitgebreid over de huisregels alsook een infomap met aanraders in de buurt die je kan bezichtigen ligt ter plaatse.
Uitbaatster is heel bereikbaar (via Whatsapp) en antwoordt onmiddellijk. Problemen worden dan ook heel snel opgelost!

Restaurants, food & wine
Although La Jolière is quiet and secluded, important amenities are very close by. Gathemo, the nearest village with a bar, shop and bakery, is 3km away. 5km in the other direction is St Germain de Tallevande with a pharmacy, bar and small supermarket. Beautiful Sourdeval is just a 10-minute drive away, where you can find our favourite bakery (with delicious fresh bread and croissants), butcher, several (organic) supermarkets, several nice shops and cafés. And the bustling town of Vire with shops, restaurants, cinema, theatre, market etc. is a 15-minute drive away.
Activities
La Jolière has children's toys and books, games, videos, books, a playing field with swing and boules court plus badminton court outside, and a covered games room with pool table, table tennis, table football, shuffleboard, large chess set and darts inside.
Beautiful walking and cycling routes are at the foot of the driveway. You can walk to the forest and a 5-minute drive will take you to the golf course (Golf Club La Vire la Dathée, day passes available) overlooking the lake 'Lac de la Dathee', where you can hike, fish, canoe or rent a boat. Horse riding and fishing are also possible in the area.

Further remarks
* La Jolière is a non-smoking holiday home and pets are not allowed (any chemical cleaning costs are the responsibility of the tenant).
* The group maximum of La Jolière is nine people (adults/children) and a baby (we have a cot + high chair).
* La Jolière is suitable for (small and large) families and families.
* La Jolière is not suitable for groups of young people and/or students.
* Arrival from 4 p.m., departure no later than 10 a.m.
* The swimming pool is open from 1 June to 28 September and is heated (no temperature guarantee!).
* It is not possible and not allowed to charge a hybrid/electric car at the house (charging points in Sourdeval at 10 min. drive).
* Subletting and camping on the property are not allowed.
* Parties and events in and around La Jolière are not allowed.
Additional price info and offers
Prices are per week, from Saturday to Saturday. The price of La Jolière is all inclusive. So no frighteningly high bills at the end of your holiday! Bed linen, towels, bath towels (for pool use), hand and tea towels for kitchen, gas, water, electricity and logs can be used at no extra cost. Fibre optic broadband and wifi is also available at no extra cost. Bed linen for the cot you need to bring your own. The heated swimming pool is open from 1 June to 28 September (no temperature guarantee!). We require a deposit of €300 (payment 4 weeks before arrival). Rubbish must be taken to the waste disposal centre 5 minutes away (for the disposal of remaining rubbish in containers outside, €50 will be charged). Starter package includes: bottle of wine, orange juice, tea, coffee, milk and water. Also provided are toilet rolls, a kitchen roll, dishwasher tablets, washing-up liquid, washing powder, aluminium foil and a new dish towel.
