Since August 2024, it has been possible to rent the wooden rustically designed shepherd's hut, la cabane de berger. For people who want real luxury camping, this is a godsend. This is possible in Auvergne at adults-only campsite La Cube. You only need to bring your own towels and clothes.
Tea kettle, coffee maker, fridge, 2-burner gas cooker and a jerry can of water are provided. The cottage is equipped with glassware, mugs, cutlery and pans. A large parasol is also available.
On arrival, the bed is made and provided with tea towel, kitchen towel and washing-up utensils. In the early and late season, it is possible to electrically heat the shepherd's hut free of charge. You use the sanitary facilities of the campsite and wifi on the terrace house, located 40mtr from the cottage.
Price € 350 per week, € 100 deposit on arrival and it is forbidden to smoke in the shepherd's hut. Dogs are not welcome.
In high season we rent the cabane de berger per week from Saturday from 3pm to Saturday 10am. Outside the high season you can book by arrangement, without fixed arrival and departure day, but min. for 3 nights.

Le Brugeron is located in the parc Livradois-Forez . The campsite and the shepherd's hut are 1.5 km from the village of Le Brugeron, where there is a boulangerie and a proxy, épicerie. There is also a small market with vegetables/fruit and cheese at the boulangerie on Friday mornings.
Intermarché. Carrefour, LeClerc, Aldi and Lidl are all 30min away.
It is an oasis for walkers and cyclists and also with your electric bike, you can see plenty of the area.
Le Brugeron is located in Auvergne, department Puy-de-Dome. It is a wooded area with many mountains and small rivers/ streams.
You can hike here without meeting anyone or just locals. It is not touristy but here you can relax in your hammock or in your chair. You can hear the birds whistling and see a squirrel or deer crossing the path.

Hallo Marion en Marcel,
Voor jullie ook nog de beste wensen. Dank voor je kaart. Het deed ons meteen weer denken aan het fijne verblijf in jullie Cabane. We hebben het ervaren als een luxe trekkershut. Koken ging met gemak en heerlijk geslapen. En wat is het een prachtig gebied. We komen vast eens terug om te fietsen en te wandelen. Maar ook willen we dan weer heerlijk voor de cabane zitten met een glas wijn en genieten van dat prachtige uitzicht.

Restaurants, food & wine
If you love cheese, Auvergne is the place to be. With 5 AOC cheeses that are international: saint nectaire, cantal, salers, fourme d'ambert and the bleu d'auvergne. But the gaperon d'auvergne should certainly not be forgotten, because we think it is the tastiest cheese and it contains garlic. Beer made by artisans will also be sold from now on.
Les cotes d'Auvergne have an AOC seal of approval and are delicious wines.
Activities
The wooden rustic shepherd's hut is located on the adults-only campsite La Cube where you will find an oasis of calm. It is a true paradise for hikers and cyclists/mountain bikers. You do need to be well-trained to cycle or use electric bikes. Livradois-Forez is a mountainous area with many forests and we are at 850 m altitude. There are several cols in the immediate vicinity: Col du Béal at 1390 mtr, Col de la Loge (1253 mtr) and Col des Supeyres (1365 mtr) with beautiful views everywhere. In 2025, the Tour de France Femmes will pass camping La Cube on 31 July at 300 mtr, and the Tour de France and Critérium de Dauphiné have already climbed up as well. You obviously want to try this too, don't you?
Many castles in the area, but also many old picturesque towns with old facades such as Ambert, Thiers and Billom. In Thiers, knives are made and you can visit a knife museum and/or a knife factory. In Ambert, fourme d'Ambert is made and you can visit the Musée de la fourme, followed by cheese and wine. Also located in Ambert is the oldest paper mill with water wheel Richard de Bas from the 15th century. They make paper by hand with fresh flowers mixed in.
There are many regional markets in the area and in high season you can stroll around the brocantes/rummage sales.
There is a lake 20 min away where you will find sun and shade. You can swim, pedal boats, canoe and there is an auberge.
Clermont-Ferrand is the capital of Auvergne and is definitely worth a visit. Especially the old part and you can also visit Puy-de-Dome at 1465 mtr. A tourist train runs and if you are well-trained, you can visit on foot. But also le Puy-en-Velay and La Chaise-Dieu are well worth a visit and also Vichy.
